Trade Accruals for CPG
Trade Accruals are created after a trade promotion is created and stays open until it is fully exhausted or manually closed out. Manually matching deductions with trade accruals is a time-consuming task given the various dimensions (date, product, promo type) that need to be matched, but imperative to tracking how the promotion is performing and how much is left in the budget for the open accrual.
That's why Confido's Trade Accruals feature was built - to provide CPG brands with a real-time view of their outstanding trade liability, and auto-matching the deductions that come in with the related promotion on a daily basis, so you always have live, accurate reporting of this bucket of spend.
Let's walk through how to do this in Confido.
Deductions View
Use this tab to match promotions with deductions as they come in. Confido will suggest auto-matching based on product, date range, and type of promotion, to help you save time on matching.
By clicking into the Promo ID cell, Confido will pull a smart-matched promotion, highlighting in green all of the segments that match the deduction. Click to confirm the promotion.
List View
The List View provides the latest estimate for trade accruals, deductions, and the open accruals. This gives a live view of how the deductions are coming in for each promotion, and how much the team should continue to expect. The list view will provide the following details per promotion:
- Trade Accrual: Total accrual created with the promotional spend
- Deductions Total: Total amount of deductions that are matched to the accrual
- Latest Estimate: Total Consumption Data * Promotion Rate
- Amount to Exhaust: In this cell, the user can manually exhaust the accrual
- Open Accrual: Amount of the Trade Accrual that has not come in as a deduction, or been manually exhausted
Reporting View
The Reporting View provides the user with the ability to view the Accrual data by custom rollups, such as By Customer / By Promo, or By Planning Group.
